Since the inception of the Gold Glove award in 1957 (55 years), Dwight Evans is the ONLY player in baseball history, who over a decade (‘80s) lead his league in home runs, won as many as five Gold Gloves and led ALL of Major League Baseball in extra base hits and runs created. The only other player to lead his decade in offense while also being recognized for their defensive prowess is Hall of Famer Hank Aaron with three Gold Gloves - 1960s.

Selected by Major League Baseball to the All-Decade Team of the 1980s.

Selected by Major League as having one of the nine (sixth all-time) greatest outfield arms in baseball history.

Evans is one of just 13 to have at least 2400 hits, 1450 runs, 1375 walks, 1375 RBI, 480 doubles and 385 home runs. Of those 13, nine have been elected to the Hall of Fame, they include, Aaron, Ruth, Mays, Robinson, Williams, Ott, Gehrg, Musial and Yasrzemski. Evans and Bonds are the only two players currently eligible for election, while others, F. Thomas and C. Jones are yet to be eligible.

23 players have finished their career with more than 1350 walks, RBI and runs. 15 have been elected to the Hall of Fame. The list includes, Yastrzemski, Williams, Speaker, Schmidt, Ruth, F. Robinson, Ott, Musial, Mays, Mathews, Mantle, Jackson, Gehrig, Foxx and Aaron. Four will be eligible, Bonds, Bagwell, Evans and Palmeiro, and four are currently not yet eligible, Thome, F. Thomas, Shefield and C. Jones.

According to J.M. Catellier's book Fixing Baseball, Evans was ONLY one of five players with fewer than 400 home runs who was able to accumulate 1,300 runs, 1,300 RBI and 1,300 walks. Pete Rose is the only other non-active player not enshrined along with Hall of Famers Eddie Collins and Tris Speaker.

Evans is ONLY one of two players in history to have played more than seventy-five percent of his total games in RF while hitting 300+ HR and walking 1000+ times. Hall of Famer Mel Ott is the other.

Evans hit for the cycle on June 28th 1984 by hitting a game winning HR in extra innings over the Seattle Mariners.

Evans set a major league record (that can not be broken) by hitting the first pitch of the 1986 season for a home run.

Evans tied a World Series record for the highest fielding percentage by an outfielder in a 7-game series with a 1000 Pct. on 24 chances.

Evans is the last player in a Red Sox uniform to play all 162 games in a season (1984). He currently ranks 36th all-time in Major League Baseball in games played.

From 1970 – 1989, no right fielder in MLB won more Gold Gloves than Dwight Evans.
